Advocacy & cultural protection
Protecting places,
truth, and Native voices.
Indigenous voices must be present in the decisions, public histories, and policies that affect our homelands and cultural responsibilities.
Our responsibility
Protection is part of sovereignty.
MASF works to ensure the truth is told, protect sacred and cultural places, and remove or reconsider symbols and names that glorify the destruction of Indigenous peoples or honor a harmful colonial past. We also support responsible care of sensitive cultural knowledge, Indigenous rights, self-determination, and relationships that respect Native priorities.
Community action
Protecting cultural landscapes
Native-led advocacy, cultural protection, and collective responsibility are essential to sustaining our homelands and ensuring that decisions affecting them include Indigenous voices.
How we advocate
Grounded in truth and responsibility.
Cultural places
Protect sacred places, ancestral resting places, cultural resources, and living cultural landscapes.
Accurate history
Challenge narratives that erase Indigenous experience and support truthful public education.
Respectful decisions
Build relationships so Indigenous knowledge and priorities meaningfully shape work affecting our homelands.
Protected knowledge
Share public education while keeping sensitive cultural knowledge under community care.
